i-Desk Workspaces Incorporate Furniture with PC

unplggdClassicX-walldesk.jpgAlthough incorporation of computers into desks has been a common cinematic feature in set design, for the most part besides some high end options and hacks, computers and the furniture remain distinct elements of the work space. We're not sure if we necessarily like having our components actually stored within a desk because of heating/ventilation issues, but we certainly can appreciate a less cluttered desk.

unplggdClassicX-Variheight.jpgWe think the fold-up wall desk from i-Desk is a much more successful design than the institutional looking, Classic X-Variheight, unless you're going for some penitentiary chic.

Specs inside each unit range from a Celeron with a paltry 512mb of memory to a sufficient Core 2 Duo with 2GB of RAM. Colour and surface options are customizable, with and assortment of other space saving configurations that seem primarily aimed at public use. Perhaps someone will hack the IKEA PS laptop station in similar, budget minded fashion.

The fold up concept could be really useful in public spaces.

Also, as a medical student, I can imagine them being put in place in hospitals. Space is limited. So, it'd be nice to have a computer terminals that you could open up and close depending on need.
